Failing My Way To The Finish Line: A Story Of Things Working Out Just Fine
When I look back at the first three decades of my life, I’ve failed at almost everything.
I never managed to become a rapper, I never became a professional footballer, nor did I get a law degree — but somehow things have worked out fine anyway.
Start fast… And then quit
When I was 12 years old, I went to fat camp, because I was really overweight. I was way heavier than any kid that age should be. I weigh about the same that I way now, in the last year of my 20s. I think that says it all.
I went to fat camp in 2002 — around the same time that The Eminem Show came out. To this day, it is still my all time favorite album, and I will sing my heart out to every song on that album.
Anyway, here I am at fat camp, making new friends, trying to figure out puberty, getting my first kiss, losing most of my weight, and generally making a bit of headway. Somehow though, the thing that sticks out most to me from that summer is the experience of that album, and loving it so much that I decided to become a rapper.
