The greatest battles in history have been decided by strategy.

The battle of Blackwater was decided by Tyrion’s cleverness. His brilliant use of strategy.

With good strategy armies have overcome lack of skill and numbers. They’ve overcome the most daunting of challenges with good strategy.

In Homer’s Odyssey, we are treated to one of history’s most brilliant displays of strategy — namely the tale of the Trojan Horse.

After a fruitless 10 years in which the Greeks had laid siege to the city of Troy, they pretended to abandon the city. They only left behind a single person — Sinon — and a giant wooden horse.

Sinon was left to persuade the Trojans that the horse was an offering to Athena — the Goddess of War. He persuaded them, that this offering would make Troy invincible, and convinced them to haul the giant wooden horse into the city. Once inside the city — upon nightfall — Greek soldiers emerged from inside the horse and opened the gates to Troy for the Greek army.

The Greeks quickly sacked Troy and declared victory on the city they had been unable to capture for 10 years.
