Why is it persuasive?

This is another case of you getting the solution for you. Once he has described the optimal solution for you, he can’t go back on what he has already said without looking like a fool. On top of that, you also activate a success schema in his or her head, because you get them to imagine what the perfect solution looks like.

This means, that when you present a solution to them, that is aligned with they have described they have no other choice but to accept your proposal, or to look stupid and incongruent to themselves, and possibly their colleagues — and no one wants that.
