I have a friend who by most accounts is extraordinarily successful.

He is in charge of numerous exciting projects and works with some of the most intelligent and interesting people on the planet.

For example he works with a women who has a PhD in physics and helped discover the Higgs Bosom particle.

On most accounts he is on the fast track to a leadership position within his company, and I would be surprised if he doesn’t end up as the CEO of his company, or a company of a similar size.

I’ve known him since my student days and I love, respect and admire him intensely. Especially for his work ethic and the way he approaches his job.

His goal — and his measure of success — is to one day become the CEO of a large company, and he is paying the price at every turn to do just that.

He knows that it’s not enought to be smart, innovative, structured and good at managing others.

He also has to put in 10–12 hours per day including some weekends, and give up most of his spare time.
